Crocus are a classic spring flowering bulb! After a long winter of snow and cold it is hard to beat seeing the crocus burst through the snow! Here in the Carondelet Garden we plant a classic combination of 4 crocus featuring purple crocus, yellow crocus, white crocus and a tri-color crocus combining all 3 colors!  The first yellow crocus just came up this past week on my birthday:  March 4, 2022!

Crocus is a genus of seasonal flowering plants in the family Iridaceae comprising about 100 species of perennials growing from corms. They are low growing plants, whose flower stems remain underground,  and then become dormant after flowering.
