It's hard to believe that just two days ago it was almost 70-degrees here in South Saint Louis. The dandelions are already popping their little heads out. Almost unbelievable! It's definitely not warm out in the Carondelet Garden this morning. It's a Frosty Friday this mid-January day.
It is a wonder how nature always seems to find a way. A mid-January dandelion for example. How crazy is that? I know it's a weed but there is something lovely about them. Little kids seem to be drawn to dandelions. In another lifetime, when I was working in elementary schools, little ones would bring me bouquets of dandelions. They were presented as a beautiful gift and accepted as such. I even had a small vase that I would lovingly fill with water and place the flowers in it on my desk. The wee ones would light up and I would, too! Simple gifts are the best gifts. Gifts given freely with no strings attached. Nothing fancy, simply given with love. Another moment of grace in a crazy world. I wish you many moments of grace this frosty Friday in January. Simple gifts of grace. Amen.
