The Woodbine is particularly lovely this year. The blooms are slightly fragrant, and the bush is growing quite well. This is its third year in the Garden. We are quite taken with it. It's been a long week here in the Carondelet neighborhood of south St. Louis with many ups and downs. Isn't that what life really is? A series of highs and lows that undulate back and forth. A much wiser person than I once said that the lowest points in their life prepared them to enjoy the highest. This week we have seen Grandparents Days, friends celebrating the birth of a new baby girl, the death of a dear friend, a visit with an old friend still mourning his dear wife who has only been gone one year, a wedding celebration today of two young people who couldn't be more in love, and tomorrow a family reunion with folks we haven't seen since before the pandemic. Life is a series of ups and downs, good and bad, sad and joyful. We need the rain to fuel the plants but know that the sun will come out to help them grow. A few rain showers around this morning, then a chance of scattered thunderstorms this afternoon. The weather service warns of potential for severe thunderstorms. Be ready to take shelter if you are out and about. The winds are out of the South at 15 to 25 MPH. Today we celebrate a wedding! Be good and kind to yourself and others as you continue your journey. We never know what that person we meet may be going through. Have a Great Saturday Gardening Friends!
