Day: 100-degrees | Night: 70-degrees
Opened the door to a hot and humid humpday morning here in the Carondelet Garden. It's going to be another scorcher on the Southside today. Back to the watering regime I go. The Doodle Dog even cut her walk short today. We usually get about 2.5 miles in, but we barely made it 1.5 miles when she started pulling to go home. I have to admit, I didn't argue. I immediately started watering. The sprinkler is doing its job on the front flower garden. I'll hand water the very back and then hopefully have time to give the yard a little drink. The routine has become a daily occurrence this summer. I'm an old man and lived in Saint Louis my entire life. I don't remember a summer this consistently hot. Then again, I'm an old man and my memory ain't what it used to be. Luckily, I have the time to tend to everything and the plants are hanging in there. I'm starting my fall lettuce plants in the incubator this afternoon. I'm going to try to plant in stages, so we have lettuce ripening all the time. That's the plan, we'll see how it turns out. I'm still learning. This is all still a bit new to this gardener. It's fun learning new things and connecting with new people. I'm a bit of an introvert by nature so it's not always easy for me to put myself out there. Thank you for all the support and kindness. Sew some kindness and love and it comes back to you in abundance. The weather is a bit of broken record. Hot and humid with abundant sunshine. Winds are out of the NW at 10 to 15 MPH. You know what to do: Stay Hydrated! Rest! Don't overdo it! Be good and be kind to yourself and others today. Everyone is a bit on edge with the heat and just life. Try to take it a bit slower and share a bit of hope! Have a great Humpday Gardening Friend!
