Day: 89-degrees | Night: 73-degrees
It's another warm and humid day here in the Carondelet Garden in South Saint Louis, Missouri. A heat advisory has been issued, again. Yet, the English Rose seems to be flourishing in the heat and humidity. The rain has certainly helped! I love the simple elegance of an English Tea Rose. Simplicity has been on my mind a lot lately. As I've gotten older the urge to simplify and cut back has grown. We've lost the last of parents and more than few friends over the past few years. We have helped in the downsizing and clearing out of homes and experienced the struggles of what to keep, what to donate and what to throw away. Unfortunately, oftentimes, it is thrown away. Nobody wants it anymore. You can't even give it away. Off to the landfill it goes. I'm trying to break that cycle in my own life. I've always been attracted to "toys." Stuff filled my life. Gadgets, clothes, furniture, just stuff. Going through it lately has been a bit freeing. Getting rid of stuff while there's at least some value, even if it given away, at least someone is able to use it. It's a bit freeing in many ways. God grant me the serenity to keep the things I need, get rid of the things I don't and the wisdom to know the difference (sorry Saint Francis). Simplicity! The forecast is another mixed bag for South Saint Louis. Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies with a chance for thunderstorms this afternoon. Winds are light and variable. The mix of heat and humidity can be treacherous, so be careful if you have to be out and about today. Be good and kind to yourself and others you may meet on your journey! Happy Friday Gardening Friends!
