An absolutely beautiful morning here in the Carondelet Garden. The temps are in the upper 60s as we start the day under cloudy skies. There is a slight chance of a rain shower, which is very welcome! The highs are going to be noticeably cooler today in the low 80s.
It's that time of year for the unveiling of this year's version of T. Higgs Original Orange Bitters. I make the bitters mostly for my friend and former neighbor who is a huge fan of Bourbon Old Fashioneds, and I must admit he makes the best there is! T. Higgs or Truman was their English Shepherd and one of my best friends ever. We didn't have a pup at the time, and I would get up and walk Mr. Truman every morning so mom could study. She was in Law School at SLU and welcomed the break and I loved every minute of it. Truman passed away a few years ago after a long and loving life but he lives on in our hearts and our glasses. Here's a toast to great friend! If you have a moment, say a quick prayer for my sweet Doodle. It's that time in her life where she has to get fixed, as they say. She will be fine, I know. Yet, I worry because that's what old men do best! Be good to yourself and kind to others as you journey about on this Friday in September. A beautiful weekend is on deck. That's all the news from here in the Carondelet Garden.
