It's Fall, Ya'll! If you needed any more proof, simply step outside into the Carondelet Garden on this first Wednesday in October. It's 48-degrees and still quite dark. There is a definite chill in the air! It's sweater weather to be sure. The tea is hot this morning!
It is the time of year in this old gardener's world to do those jobs I didn't get around to doing, or I didn't have time (or money) to do earlier. I'm finally finishing the steel edging project I started almost two years ago. This is definitely a time and money project as the steel edging is quite expensive, but it is permanent. Meaning, it will be worth the investment in the long term. Plus, it looks amazing! Every garden is a work in progress. It sometimes gets better, and sometimes it gets worse. We are at the mercy of weather, climate change, insects, and so much more. Our job is to be part of the change. Be flexible and enjoy the process. The right answers are few and far between and often much less interesting that the right questions! October is really the new year for gardeners. It's that time to take stock, plan, prepare and start again. It's also the time to start putting some beds to sleep for a long Winter's nap. The work continues but so does the joy and satisfaction. Happy Fall, Ya'll! That's all the news from here in the Carondelet Garden.
