The skies are sunny, and the air is brisk on this first day of November. This Dahlia was perfect just before the big freeze this weekend. It was lovely while it lasted but all things do come to an end. Such a lovely reminder of what will come again when Spring arrives next year.
It is All Hallows Day, the thinnest of days and times for this old gardener. This time of life is such a gift as I finally have the opportunity to slow down, to pause, and to see the world around me in a new way with fresh eyes. Eyes that can actually take the time to see the wonder and glory about me. In these thin times I feel as though I am being broken open. I seek to encounter myself and my relationship with others and with God, in a deeper and more authentic way. Wonder makes its home in these places as I often receive the gift of new insights and memories. I am working at becoming more understanding, compassionate, and authentic. Never an easy task for an old man who is often set in his was and old-fashioned in his thoughts. I am seeking to open up to new ways of seeing, fresh avenues of thinking, and ultimately, a transformed life filled with the simple gifts of faith, hope, and love. Welcome to All Hallows Day, the second day of Allhallowtide which takes us into All Saints Day tomorrow and ends with Remembrance Sunday. A lovely tradition to honor the faithful departed and the everyday saints who roam the earth every day. The belief that there is a wonderful, powerful spiritual bond between the living on earth, and the faithful departed. The thinnest of times. A blessed All Hallows Day to you on this Wednesday in November. A bit of faith, some hope, and love sent out this sunny morning. That's all the news from here in the Carondelet Garden.
