Another chilly start to the morning here in the Carondelet Garden. The sun is shining, and the skies are blue, and the temperatures should be a bit warmer this Thursday in November. The mums are hanging in there after the freezing temperatures these past few days. A touch of grace on this All Souls Day.
In my Celtic tradition there are many moments considered to be a “thin time,” which means that heaven and earth feel closer, and we might experience moments of connection to those who have gone before us in ways that we don’t usually. These moments include the daily movement from dark to light and back again. Today, the door between the spiritual and the physical is even open even further than at other times. I feel the memories and presence around me this time of year. A bit of melancholy mixed with love and grace. It's that time of year when day and night hang in balance and then tip toward the darkness as another year wains. Soon we will be setting our clocks back one hour and the darkness will seem even more present. A time to rest and restore as we circle once again. Light will overcome the darkness. The time of waiting is almost upon us. It's a beautiful morning. A time filled with the grace that lets us know we are loved. A thin time to be sure. Be good and be kind to yourself today. We all deserve that goodness and a kindness right now. Maybe more than ever before. That's all the news from here in the Carondelet Garden.
