A beautiful Monday morning here in the Carondelet Garden. Woke up to low 60s and a lovely sunrise here in South Saint Louis. It's going to be a pretty warm day today with highs in the upper 70s. Indian summer weather to be sure. I'm going to try and make good use of this bit of grace.
The Rosemary has done exceptionally well here in the garden this year. It has grown into a lovely bush. I have to admit, normally I leave the kitchen garden alone and let nature take its course and start over in the spring. This year I can't let my Rosemary bush go. Today she is coming out and will be potted up and stored in the grow light section of the basement. Hopefully everything will go to plan and the Rosemary will return in all its glory this springtime. The light, color, plants, and my human energy are all on the wane during this time of year. I always seem to become a big old bear and all I want to do is hunker down and read a good mystery novel. If you have any suggestions, let me know! Yet, it is still important to do as much as possible in the Fall to set up the year ahead. As one door closes another, albeit smaller and more distant door opens. It is not so much a time to put the garden to sleep as it is to gently prepare it for the coming renewal and rebirth. The garden is a great reminder that to every thing there is a season. A time for everything. Now is the time make the most of the fading beauty as the leaves are truly changing and the beauty of Autumn is at its finest. The leaves are really starting to drop, and it is time to setup my leaf mould station. It is time to make the most of the fading light as we enter the waiting of winter. A new week is upon us. The beginning of the week looks to be amazing weather-wise. Here's to making the most of this beautiful time. Enjoy the leaves, the color, the majesty of Autumn these next few days. The time is fleeting. Be good and be kind to yourself and others. We all need all we can get right now! That's all the news from here in the Carondelet Garden.
