Day: 49-degrees / Night: 36-degrees
The weather forecast is all over the place. It seems we will be getting anywhere from 3-inches to 3-feet of snow. Ice or sleet as well but then maybe just rain. Maybe just snow. Then again, we may not get anything at all. Ho Tai is having a good laugh at all of us. It will happen or it will not happen. We might as well enjoy the journey! It's a lovely brisk morning in Carondelet. The Doodle enjoyed her sojourn through the neighborhood. Skies are partly cloudy but there was a lovely sunrise. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy all day. Winds from the SSE at 10 to 15 MPH. Going to get in some winter cleanup in the Carondelet Garden this afternoon. It's time to get those leaves out of the walkways just in case it does snow. Be kind to yourself today. If you have to go the supermarket today, please be patient. Everyone is doing the best they can, and everyone is stressed. Have a smile behind that mask. Share some love and hope. Be a little like Ho Tai! Have a good laugh today if you can! It helps!

Sunny skies this morning. The trellises are in for the pole beans this spring. Have you noticed we are getting a bit of spring fever? I think the weather this week will put us in our place, though! Clouds are going to move in this afternoon with winds out of the NNW at 10 to 15 MPH! Sunny Sunday morning. A great cup of coffee. The blue bag has arrived, so we have the @nytimes to look forward to and some good music on the smart speaker. No complaints from this old couple! Be kind to yourself today. Try to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Even if it's only for a little while. Peace, Hope and a whole lot of love our gardening friends! Day: 42-degrees / Night: 26-degrees
Woke up to single-digits this morning. The Doodle seems to love it. Me, not so much. The garlic is looking a little sad right now but that's to be expected. It's resting just waiting for spring, just like the rest of us! I can't wait to get back into the garden every day. Today should be sunny with a high of 42-degrees. Hard to imagine right now, but the coffee is good! Winds are from the South at 10 to 15 MPH. Happy Saturday gardening friends. Be good to yourself today. Have that extra cup of coffee. Relax a little if you can. Day: 29-degrees / Night: 12-degrees
I was so surprised when I opened the door to take the Doodle for her morning constitutional. It had snowed... a little. When I got up this morning there was no snow at all and then about an hour later, snow! Didn't expect that! It's not much but it is pretty. That snow should be changing over to partly cloudy skies by this afternoon. It looks like we have already reached our high temperature for today. The winds are deceptive this morning at 10-25 MPH. They cut right through you so dress appropriately. It's the best kind of snow. Light, pretty and not enough to cause anyone too many headaches. Enjoy today my gardening friends! Be kind to yourself and those who may cross your path. Day: 44-degrees / Night: 20-degrees
Quite a bit warmer today. At least it isn't single digits this morning. Cloudy skies all day. Winds out of the West at 10 to 15 MPH. There's a very slight chance of some snow this morning, but we all know that's not happening! We are really getting the itch to start our seedlings. It's way too early for the Carondelet Garden so we've scratched our itch by doing this really cool jigsaw puzzle! Dr. B is the puzzle queen! Happy Thursday gardening friends. Be kind to yourself and everyone else you meet today. Day: 28-degrees / Night: 19-degrees
Single digit temperatures this morning. It's cold. No two ways about it. Even the Winter Rye is showing some signs of the weather. Hopefully a bit of a warmup later this week. Today we should have sunshine and light winds. Sounds pretty good. The little Doodle Dog gets her walk a little later today. I need coffee and a bit more warmth. These old bones don't like the cold. Be kind to yourself today! Happy Hump Day gardening friends! Day: 28-degrees / Night: 6-degrees
Oh my goodness! Do not let that sunshine fool you. It is downright cold outside this morning. The lamb's ears don't show it, but it is frigid. The little Doodle dog is getting a short walk this morning. Just down the street because today she's getting groomed at the groomer here in Carondelet: The Matted Doodle at the corner of South Grand and Wilmington. We should see sunny skies all day with highs in the upper 20s. Winds are light from the WNW from 5 to 10 MPH. Bundle up when you head out today. Be safe! Be kind to yourself. Happy Tuesday gardening friends. Day: 49-degrees / Night: 33-degrees
Saint Fiacre of Breuil (c. AD 600 – 18 August 670), the Catholic priest, abbot, hermit, and gardener of the seventh century was famous for his sanctity and skill in curing infirmities. He emigrated from his native Ireland to France, where he constructed for himself a hermitage together with a vegetable and herb garden, oratory, and hospice for travelers. He is the patron saint of gardeners. We find it very fitting that Saint Fiacre is watching over the Carondelet Garden. Today is a day he would love. The Irish saint would be quite familiar with a day filled with lots of clouds and a wee soft rain this afternoon. The winds will be out of the WNW at 10 to 15 MPH. We are anxiously awaiting the beginning of Spring but today will give us the rain we need for the garden to thrive. Balance is good. So be kind to yourself today! Day: 41-degrees / Night: 22-degrees
A new stick of firewood stacked and ready. Perfect for those winter fires, hot chocolate or better yet, Irish Coffee! The warming trend continues for a day or two before the cold comes back. Partly cloudy skies this morning with just a little bit of sunshine. The forecasters are calling for falling temperatures throughout the day so I guess this beautiful morning is the high. Winds are from the NNW at 10 to 20 MPH. It's time to settle in with my fellow blue bag brigade and enjoy a cup of Stringbean Parker's Table Roast coffee and get this day going. Be kind to yourself and everyone you meet today. It's cheap and makes a world of difference! Have a great day gardening friends! Day: 42-degrees / Night: 29-degrees
It's still a cold start to this beautiful, clear-skied Saturday. The Rosemary that we are trying to save is still hanging in there. The extra mulch and straw seem to be helping. Today is a quiet day here in the garden and the kitchen will be still as well. We've been busy all week and decided to relax a bit. This getting old things has its benefits. You get to do what you want and you really don't care what other people think. At least, most of the time! We're having partly cloudy skies all day. Light winds from the West at 5 to 10 MPH. Enjoy that extra cup of coffee and the Weekend Wall Street Journal should be here any minute. Be kind to yourself today. High: 28-degrees / Low: 14-degrees
Woke up this morning to single digit temps here in Carondelet. The garden looks pretty frozen today even with the sunshine this morning. The Irish Moss and the sunshine belie the fact that it is ridiculously cold out there right now! The high will hopefully reach 21-degrees and the skies are sunny so that does help. Winds are NN@ at 10 to 15 MPH. It's time for a second cup of Stringbean coffee and I think I'll check out the New York Times. Be kind to yourself today! Warmer days are coming. High: 39-degrees / Low: 9-degrees
Hold on! It's gonna be a wild Wednesday. We are already at our high for today with temps dropping throughout the day. Yes, the Doodle gets her walk in just a few minutes. This old couple doesn't like walking in single-digit temps. It's overcast out there this morning. Winds are NNW at 10 to 20 MPH. A little breezy but we are going to spend much of the day organizing and getting ready for seedlings! We are stocked with more stuff coming in the next couple of weeks! Are you counting the days until Spring? It's closer than you think yet farther than I'd like but that's life, right? Have a little faith. Sow a bit of Hope. Share a little love! Be kind to yourself! Happy Wednesday Gardening friends! High: 52-degrees / Low: 32-degrees
The seeds have arrived! The seeds have arrived! Oh, my goodness, the seeds have arrived! I don't think we're the only ones who geek out when the seed catalogs arrive in the mail. It's even more exciting when the seeds start arriving. Now it's sitting and waiting and trying diligently to be patient. Not an easy thing to do, especially when it is going to be 52-degrees this afternoon! Patience! We should see some sun this morning with increasing clouds throughout the rest of the day.
